Pinsperation :: Baby Boy

My little man is growing so fast, and it is a true shame. I was on Pinterest a lot before he was born. I looked at nurseries, photographs, clothes, shoes, and even quotes. I was inspired by so many sources and wanted to implement so many things into my new baby's room and wardrobe. Needless to say, none of this prepared me to be a mom. Honestly, none of it really help me design his room or pick out his clothes either. Rather all of the pins and interests made me feel even less prepared, more jealous, and not at all productive. Did that stop me? Well, no. But a girl can still dream. Sadly many of the "opportunites" I wanted to take advantage of, the styling, the photographs are beyond my reach now. No longer can a take a picture of my sweet, tiny newborn with a pumpkin hat on. However, there are still plenty of things for me do from this board. I know there is no possible way to accomplish them all, nor do I want to. I do however, want to keep putting as many pins as I can on this board because my little man occupies much of my time and thoughts. It is probably best for me to stock up on ideas now so when he becomes older and wiser too I will still have all of this to draw from.

Pinsperation :: Accessorize Me

Give me shoes, wallets, hats, and iPhone cases. Lately I have been on the lookout for the perfect accessories because heaven knows I shouldn't be purchasing any more clothes. Sometimes I honestly think the accessories can make and break an outfit, like the font and embossing on book titles. For the most part I am very conservative when it comes to accessories. I own few jewels and fewer purses and no clutches, not a single one. I do however have a gazillion over the shoulder messenger bags because these do triple duty as diaper bag, purse, and backpack. Yes, I know, I am a university graduate and do not need backpacks any more, and yet I cannot give them up.

Confession, I am a backpack hoarder! I still have a hideous black and orange number from my junior high school days. the zipper is torn, the pockets have holes, and yet I cannot bring myself to give it up. Too many days I walked locker lined halls and sat on the front lawn for lunch with that backpack. It carried textbooks, spiral bounds, and glitter gel pens. It will be mine forever I'm afraid. But backpacks aside, it really is time for me to reach out and explore the big wide world of accessories. Embrace the clutch!

Pinsperation :: Style

I've been thinking a little bit about my style lately, especially after a bloggy open house and so many pin up women looking smashing. I was thinking, if someone asked me to define my style what would I say? My first response to myself was: if you are trying to define your style with words, then perhaps you are doing it wrong. Shouldn't the clothes do the talking? The inner dialogue continued, well then, what do you want your clothes to say?  I am a classy, fun, mommy of one who likes to get dressed up and still kick trash. I want my clothes to say that. Well, guess what, don't. Don't be a meanie. Look at this mess (gesture to disarrayed closet). What does that say to you? I need a pair of goldenrod trousers? No, nice try. It says you don't use me properly. Sniff, sniff. You are so right! So, now what?
End of internal dialogue.

The downright truth is I do not really have style, or fashion, or whatever you want to call it. I am not trendy or hip. I do not follow fads (too often) and I have no clue how to use my closet. Hence the pinsperation spree lately. I skim pages, pin from blogs, and stare into the abyss while pondering the meaning of life and linen. As I look over many of these photos I finally know how to define what I want my style to be.

I am a tomboy-librarian with hippie, feminine vibes who might, on occasion and in fact, just be a swashbuckling pirate queen on safari. So there!
