I've Got the Hunger

Yes, I purchased this Hunger Games pin from Walmart for $7.00 so I could be all festive and fanatical tomorrow when I go to the movie with Superman. I seriously cannot wait to see the show. This also means I will be on a blog, Facebook, twitter, and perhaps every last scrap of media strike from midnight tonight until 4 p.m. tomorrow. Don't get me wrong, I want to know what other people think of the movie and how it compares to the book, but I need to go into this thing with a clean slate.

Remember Eragon the movie? Many people claim it as an utter fiasco. I liked the movie. I liked the book. However, to me, it was best to just keep the two separate. I was able to easily accomplish this because there was a span of several long months between me reading the book and seeing the movie. Probably the reason why I didn't think the Eragon movie was an epic fail, because I only had the vaguest outline of the book in my mind and I was not sitting in the theater waiting to pounce on any act, scene, or line that did not match up. Also, I had low expectations going in because I had read the numerous bashing comments before going to see it.

With Hunger Games I must take a different tact. With Hunger Games I love the book, to infinity and beyond. I have read, re-read, listened, and re-listened to it several times, recently. Same goes for the movie trailers on the You Tube. Love it! I already have high expectations. The last thing I need is to build it up any further with all of my peers and internet friends telling me how wonderful it is, (or horrible, but that's just simply won't happen right?) Instead I want to walk in with only one voice in my head, my voice. No critics, no comments, no corrections. Just me, my Superman, and my movie.

To you already waiting in line, I am jealous. If I did not have K.B. to look after I would probably be right there with you. I know I should probably end this with "Will the odds be ever in your favor," but that just seems a bit over used. Instead, I will say, "Stay alive."

If you are looking to waste the last few hours before the movie, go here

  1. I loved the movie and even more that the screen play was written by the author. I really loved Hunger Games more than any other series I have read. I love sci-fi, dystopian, and political books so it was great :)
