I am a Winner!

Well people, it finally happened. I won something. In my life I am not usually one to enter contests, apply for free giveaways, or any of that sort of thing. At least, not until just recently. Over the holidays things changed. I had free time, I was reading a lot of blogs, and didn't mind spending a quick minute to apply for a few giveaways. Also, thanks to Instagram, things were all that much easier. Turns out a few hashtags and comments later I come out a winner of the Small Fry Blog giveaway for a Canon DSLR or a new iPhone 5.

I was ecstatic when I read my name at the bottom of this post. It was a Sunday afternoon and I was just scrolling through a few blog posts while my Littleman pulled a number of DVDs from the shelf and brought them to me. Suddenly I was up, iPhone in hand, running circles around our family room. I won, I won, I WON! I reread the post. Yep, that was me, right there in black and white. I must have looked pretty funny because Littleman stopped his little game and started chasing me, laughing and smiling. I called my husband and called my mom. I WON!

I know people say this a lot, but in my case it is very true, I seriously never win anything. The last time I won something I was in the fourth grade. With a group of my classmates, maybe four of us, we worked together to build a cabin style structure out of popsicle sticks. Ours was a little four walled structure with a roof, a window, a door, and surrounded by a picket fence. We were very proud. Once the displays were finished and were set out for a while, it was time to see which lucky student from the group got to take the project home. We played the number guessing game and out of the four students who worked on our cabin, I was the closest. I won!

That was the last time anything like that ever happened to me until now. In races I was fine being just above average. I never had to be first. I never needed gold. I was fine never getting a free 12 oz. soda from my Sprite bottle cap when both my brother and sister got one with theirs. I was fine spinning the prize wheel and landing on the one space that doesn't have anything to offer. It was no big deal. I was used to not winning. But no longer! Now I am sorry to say, after winning, I am absolutely hooked.

I want to send a special thanks to the ladies of Small Fry and One Good Thing for hosting the giveaway. My Canon T3i is my new love. She is beautiful, classy, sleek, black, and sharp. I call her Stella. I was talked into wrapping Stella up as a Christmas present and could not wait to get her in my hands and shooting. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU.

As for all the readers/followers/cyberspace I hereby apologize for all of the photos that are sure to follow. This new camera gives me an excuse to take more pictures, and where better to post them than my very own blog!
