Entitled Weekly 8.18

Summer is winding down and my weeks are winding up. I am getting more and more busy as time goes by and August comes closer to an end. It is what tends to happen as KB and I try and soak up what is left of summer. We end up eating a lot of junk food, spending a lot of time away from home, and getting less and less nap time. Oh the sacrifices we make to make the most of sunshine. I am sad to see this summer close, this my first summer as a mommy. Although I am excited to start my first fall as a mommy as well. So we are torn. Happy, but torn. Here are a few titles from my week.

I Share, You Share Lunches
Veggies in Brownies
A Quiet Moment With the Hall Light
Bed Covers
No Time for Naps: Memoirs of a Busy Baby
French Toast on Friday
A Cozy Polar Bear
Block to the Party

Feeling Entitled 7.28

This week was a bit random. Things are starting to get busy as August approaches and with a State Holiday thrown in the early part of the week I had my days all mixed up. I really hate when that happens. Wednesday felt like Saturday, Thursday felt like Sunday, and by the time Friday came around I was thinking it was Tuesday. Fortunately Superman has a four day weekend so I can have time to get everything around the house back on track just before things start to get crazy. I am telling you, August is a busy busy month around here. I m excited for it to get started, but nervous I will run out of time and energy berfore everything gets done. And I don't even have to get anyone ready for school yet. Yeesh! I can't even begin to fathom how nutsy I will be when that starts happening.

So here it is, a series of crazy book titles from this week:
"Baby Sleeps While Mommy Dashes Through Chores"
"I am Random, How 'Bout You?"
"Hello Batman Chucks in the Little Boys Section; I Want You"
"Finally Respite"
"Religated to the Back Seat"
"How to Count Ten Twisty Pigs"
"Get Outta My Way Hair!"

Entitled 7.22

If this week were summed up in a series of book titles it would look a little something like this:
"Lazy Sunday Afternoon"
"Bulldog Trousers"
"Lashes as Long as the Nile"
"Baby, Messy Baby"
"How to Train Your Dog to Clean Up Messes"
"Door Stop Said Boing"
"A Family Who Naps Together"
"Squirt Squirt Bang Bang"

Our week was delightful, delovely, delectable. Really it was a wonderful week. K.B. and I spent much of our time at home slogging around, except on the days when Superman had work off. On those days we decided to have adventures, but unfortunately none of them were documented by iPhone.

We hit up the pool with family on Wednesday which was probably the best day we have been there yet. This summer the Pass of all Passes have proven to be the bane of my existence. Every time we have shown up at the water park it is over crowded. People here, there, everywhere. I tell you, warding off speeding tubes brings out my mama bear. "There is a baby over here people!" I find myself angrily eyeing at the rowdy teens. Well not Wednesday. Wednesday was swimming pool perfection in my mind. The place was not overly crowded. The weather was not too hot not to cold. Family was there. It was all around just right. I even got to ride some of the slides I have missed out on for four years, so that made me especially happy.

Then Thursday we ventured to Salt Lake City for a wood working shop Superman wanted to visit. He talked woodshop with the owners all "purple heart" this and "wood turning" that. I turned my ears off for most of it, but was glad to give my hubby an opportunity to smile. He drooled over tools we will never be able to afford and showed K.B. all the things he wants to build. It was nice to get out of the house and dabble a little more in the small business aspect of our lives.

Then all at once the weekend flew by, which is why I am posting on Sunday (for shame!) instead of my usual Friday or Saturday roundup post. Friday K.B. and I had a housecleaning party, Saturday I had a much needed GNO, and today is a day of rest. In fact, I am off to take a nap thank you very much.

Entitled Weekly 7.14

"Hidden Behind Dark Glasses"
"Soccer Watching Stance"
"Nappy Time Dance"
"Angel of the Morning"
"Mommy: The New Playground"
"How Not to Organize Your Home Workbench"
"Shop Hands Busy"

This past week was a good one, and by good I mean manageable despite life's best efforts to make it otherwise. Life helped me break yet another pair of favorite sunglasses and that makes three this year. Poo! Life is forcing a canine tooth to try and emerge through a very little jaw and his little gums. Life has stolen all of my money leaving me with just enough to buy groceries and nothing else. Insert the image of my closet shaking it's proverbial fist at life. Life has broken my weed whacker and nearly done in my lawn mower. Life has allowed wasps to take up residence in the upper eaves of my house. Life has kept me from shaving for five days! Heinous I tell you.

Despite all of this, I am seeing through to all the many things I have such great gratitude for.

First: my family. I love spending time with Superman, Littleman, and all of our family that is so close by. Honestly most of our immediate family lives within 30 minutes. What a blessing, what a support, and what a way to always have people around when you are in a pinch.

Second: I have a house, a yard, a haven. I deeply, truly, dearly love my house. It is the perfect size, the perfect location, and the perfect mixture of undying bachelor pad mixed with family home. The turn over is taking time, but little by little this house is becoming our home and I think we will be permanent fixtures here.

Third: I am so grateful for budgets. I know, that is a strange thing to add to this list, but today it just feels like things are working out for a reason. We are so blessed to have ends meet each month.

We are about $900 less than the income we were accustomed to while I was working. That is a big hit for us. Fortunately we are making it work. It means tightening belts, cutting down, and simplifying. It means focusing on the important things and letting the rest just be. I will admit, it has been hard to follow along in the lives of those in the blogosphere. The people I blog stalk are vacating, hitting up Europe, and doing all the things I am desperately jealous of. I can't do those things, but that is just fine. I don't need to. I have too many things to be thankful for to let the weight of financial burden keep me down.

So here is to good family, good home, and good enough money.

Best Sellers Volume 7.7

I have decided to combine my Entitled Weekly and my Instaweek posts. It is simply too silly to post them on separate days. So now you get the titles from my week as well as the cover art to go along with them. I know, just keeping you all guessing here on this ever changing blog! Full of surprises, oh yes we are.

This was an alright week. Again my Superman was pulling some overtime so we didn't get very many days together. I honestly hate these weeks simply because I feel like a widow for the most part. Sman gets home, showers, eats, and then hits the sack. I try to get to bed at the same time he does but Littleman often has other plans for me. By the time I crawl into bed my hubby is soundly snoring away. Sad, but true.

Other happenings this week in a series of book titles:
"Top Teeth in Progress"
"The Hair that Lasted All the Live Long Day"
"Baby is an Official Mess Maker"
"Hot Freedom Fest Walking"
"Nearly There Up the Stair"
"Yellow Balloon"
"Rain to Put Out the Fire!"
"Browsing, but Not Shopping"
"A Home Library Book List"

Here at A London we hope your week has been bright and shiny and full of happy 4th activities. We will be taking full advantage of Hubby Home Sunday tomorrow and then it is back to work for another long Superman haul. We can do it!

6.29 Entitled Weekly

Things are really starting to look like Summertime around here and nothing says summer better than this baby in a baby fedora. I saw this hat at Old Navy and fell head over heels in love with it. They also had a baby straw fedora with a blue plaid band. I got both! Its crazy, I know. My kid doesn't even really like to wear hats. But for six bucks? What would you do? The blue hat is big, like 6 months too big on his little bean, but I love it so much and see many a hat wearing days in our future. This is because I do not want his fair scalp to be scorched by the sun. It has been in the 90s here, regularly. Something I am completely in love with. Summer is a good season.

This week has been pretty laid back around our parts. I have actually gotten some work down around the house and was offered a writing gig for the end of the week. Baby KB is as engaging as ever and now that the army crawl is firmly in place around here I have to keep the floors free of baby choking debris. Hard work, this mommyhood.

This Week in a Series of Book Titles
"Monday Night, Family Night, Nighty Night"
"Two Top Teeth Take Teething Tablets"
"Kiddie Pools are for Babies"
"10 Tricks to Keep Baby from Pulling Off his Hat"
"Cute Baby at Blogger Mingle: A Great Way to Start Conversation and Have Your Picture Taken"
"Smokin' Hot Inversion"
"The Snake that Never Leaves!"
"Baby, Where Did You Get That? Adventures in Baby Crawling"
"Nail Polish? What is That?"

How did your week look? Good? I hope so.

6.15 Entitled Weekly

I have had every excuse to get as much done as possible this week, but I simply decided not to. My hubby worked most days, my baby napped most days, and even my dog was content to let me be. Despite it all I was just not in the mood for house work, yard work, or any kind of work for that matter. I was on a working moratorium. My reason? Sugar. Hubby and I have been off of sugar this entire month. I have not really felt as much pang from this decision as I thought I would. However, without my usual reward system in place, aka dark chocolate brownies, I have had to find other ways to give myself pats on the back. The best way I have found happens to be laziness. Laziness for most of the week. If this week were a series of book titles this is what they would be:

"Baby Sleeps, Mommy Sleeps, and Everyone is Happy"
"The Day No One Did Laundry"
"Fetching Mail"
"I Make Dinner...Sometimes"
"Perfecting your Army Crawl: A Baby's Perspective"
"A River of our Own one Afternoon"

Entitled Weekly

Sorry for the delay on this "Entitled Weekly" post, but things have gotten very stirred up around here lately. My Superman kicked things in to high gear and got a business licence. It has been crazy busy these last few days he has been home. I have been put in charge of all his "marketing" because I am such a genius at it after all; wink, wink. We want to do a blog page, facebook page, instagram, and all that jazz. We finally settled on a name and things are looking up. I will post more about it soon, once I have a better handle on things around the tangled world wide web. I am lately working on answering questions like: What should I use? Blogger, Wordpress, something else? Do we want a "website, website"? How do you sell things on etsy anyway? See, toldja, genius! So once I get it all settled out I will be shamelessly linking all of our personal business on my blog.

Until then, here is what my week looked like as a series of book titles.

We are Officially in Business, Small Business
We Meet Again Paypal
No More all You Can Eat Sushi for You!
The Challenges of Riding a Stationary Bike; It's Harder than it Looks
Bedtime Baby Wrestling and Nap Time Revolts
The Accidental Death of a Snake
Sticky Pear Mush all on the Kitchen Floor

It has been busy, needless to say. Any good book titles from your week?

This last week has been a stretch in every sense of the word. It hast stretched out beyond the boundaries of any normal week. It has stretched my patience beyond the limit. It has stretched my relationships across cities and states. So here is what my week looked like in a series of book titles.

"No Work and No Play"

"A Far Away Best Friend"

"The Cuddle Bunch"

"A Shopaholic in Withdrawl"

"Is that your Green Smoothie? Or Mine?"

"The Longest Yard Work"

Any fun, funny, or downright depressing book titles from your week?

Entitled Weekly

I found an idea on this blog that I absolutely love (the blog and the idea)! What is even better, this idea is especially apt for my blog and for me. I am a writer who is exceptionally accomplished at starting a number of brillantly executed novels, but never finishing a one of them. Perhaps it is because I crave the fresh flood of ideas that come as inspiration for a new project. Perhaps it is merely the brainstorming process I love and craze over. Or perhaps I am just a lazy wanna be novelist with a job, a child, a husband, and ten thousand other things I should be doing instead of professionally writing a novel. Just perhaps.

Anyways, I start writing a new novel, I organize the plot and have the beginnings of what I know will be an incredible story all written out. I continue to work on it for a few months here a little and there a little. Suddenly I seem to run out of steam. I put it away to "finish later," which never happens. We all know this.

This collection of unfinished stories is like a box of leftovers from Chili's. At the restaurant you have every intention of taking home that Styrofoam box and indulging in your baby back ribs and fries once more, polishing them off with a hearty lick of the fingers. But honestly, it is never meant to be. You gather your things up from the table, sign the check, and saunter out to the car; your leftovers already forgotten and still sitting on the table. Yep, this is often how my novel writing ends up.

For me this type of writing means I never get to pen out a title for any of my stories. I know, you probably think a title is a natural part of the beginning phase of writing, but it's not for me. For me the title is the polished off ending of every book, paper, review, and homework assignment. It is the hearty finger licking that happens post meal. For example, when I finish reading a book I press the covers back together and read the front cover for the last time, patting my fully satisfied belly. I remember all of the good and bad times, I run my finger along the embossing lovingly, and then slide the book away on a shelf until another day. When writing I employ the same tactic, writing the title last and making sure it best reflects the whole of what my writing conveys. I did this for every paper from junior high to university. It is my means, my method, and my madness. But with my stories, I never have the chance to get there.

All of that to say, I have a new idea! To me titles are important. Which is why I want to do a review of what my weekly life would look like as a series of book titles. Perhaps I will pick one of these titles to write out longhand the adventures of that day, but the reality is I probably wont. Rather, I will read over these "book titles" and remember exactly my story that goes along with them. That is what a title is really meant to do, right? First grab the attention, and second, make the story memorable once you are finished.

Ready? Go!

"Hello Stranger! Let's Awkwardly Run Into Each Other at Target Several Times and Make Eye Contact"

"Nice Weather, Bad Weather, Nice Weather"

"The Grass I Refuse to Mow"

"Dear Dandelions, Stop Taking Over the Planet"

"10 Ways How NOT to Make a Baby Poop"

"A Weekend Away With Baby Equals a Car Full of Luggage"

"A Baby Who Sneezes Bananas and More Adventures in Solid Foods"

If your life last week was turned into a book what would the title be?
